Translator’s affidavit — Sworn statement
Were you asked to provide a translator’s sworn statement along with your translation?

The affidavit It is a written statement which the translator signs under oath or affirmation before an authorised person. It includes information about the translator’s qualifications and the translation carried out, in accordance with the requirements of the body requesting it.

When do you need it?

Some legal procedures require this document in addition to a certified translation. For example, a translated marriage certificate may be required for divorce proceedings in Australia. Not all NAATI translations require a affidavit. Before hiring them, check the guidelines issued by the organisation that will receive your documents.
